Description: The Fairfield Inn and Suites is one of the few hotels located in Belleville, but probably one of the best. My husband and I stayed here mainly because I had enough Marriott point to allow us to stay free for nearly two weeks, so didn’t consider any other hotels in Belleville, but overall we were not disappointed.
We had a king suite which was a large room with a semi-separate bedroom. In the bedroom area was a king bed with bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a large TV. The living area had a sofa, chair, office desk with office chair and a large wall unit with large TV and CD player a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. There was also a good size wardrobe with iron and ironing board inside and a small but adequate bathroom. The hotel offers free high-speed Internet access in all rooms.
Our room was located facing the very busy 401, so we experienced considerable road noise even during the night. This was hugely reduced over the weekend. We were also next to a stairwell and exit door. This meant that we could hear people walking up and down the stairs and banging the door at all hours.
The hotel offers a free continental breakfast, which is served in an area behind reception. There was a choice of waffles, bagels, toast, cakes, cereals and fruit. You could also help yourself to tea, coffee and fruit juice. The tea and coffee is available 24 hours. Overall the breakfast wasn’t too bad, but as Brits, we find all the sweet things available not to our liking. We used to end up just having toast and my husband occasionally had some cornflakes. If this breakfast is not to your liking, there is a Denny’s opposite the hotel that offers a huge range of reasonably priced breakfasts, as well as other meals.
The hotel has an indoor pool, but we did not use this so I cannot comment on it. There is also a guest laundry facility, which costs $1.50 for the wash and the same again for drying, but the hotel provides soap and conditioner free from reception.
Overall, I would say the hotel is very clean, spacious and the staff very nice and friendly. Our only complaint was the noise in our room, but this can be avoided by asking for a room away from the stairwells.
It is located just off the 401, so easily accessible and just across the road from the Quinte Mall. There are lots of shops and restaurants within both walking and driving distance.
New Note:
We stayed at this hotel again a couple of months later and requested a quieter room. We were allocated an internal room rather than one on the side of the 401 and it was much quieter and made for a much better stay.
