Pilgrim House Inn

A nice and simple bed and breakfast. Great location, 1 block to Thames Street and the wharf. The Inn is located in the Historic District of Newport called Historic Hills.

Parking is not available directly at the inn. It is one or two blocks to the public parking lot, which was difficult to find parking even in the winter, so I imagine in the summer it is nearly impossible.

The Inn has eleven rooms, with an old, elegant Newport style decor. Comfortable bed, nice, smallish bathroom and a clock radio. There are NO televisions in these rooms, so in the winter while it is freezing outside be ready to make your own fun or indulge in the sherry and shortbread downstairs to warm you up.

The Breakfast at the inn is nice, nothing special, but good. The smells permeate throughout the entire hotel the night before and it makes you so hungry and so excited to wake up and eat. They have a nice little dining room on the third floor with an outdoor deck, which I am sure is the best place to sit in the summer (not so much in the winter).

Their breakfast is made daily and the breads and pastries are home made, by the innkeepers. Some of the items that they offer are: Fresh fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, banana bread,
cinnamon cake & blueberry cake, orange juice, milk, teas & coffee.

The employees were all very friendly and the owners were very helpful. we asked them where they recommend a nice dinner and where things were located and they always gave good, helpful advice.

We were there during the Newport Winter Festival and although very cold, the sun was shining and there were people everywhere.

All in all this was a nice hotel, I would not run back to stay here, but for a short weekend stay it was a nice, little getaway.
