Located next to the best chippy in town, the Rockview Bunkhouse lived up to it's name in that it was a place to bunk and not do much else. The bunkrooms were fine. Clean sheet sleeping bags were provided, although there were so many bunks in each room that there wasn't much space to place belongings.
There was a toilets/washroom next to each bunkroom although the two showers were on the bottom floor (the bunk rooms were on the first and second floor).
The TV lounge had a couple of sofas and several games available and the kitchen had a washer and dryer available for use. Unfortunately this meant that people used the kitchen table to pile their washing waiting to be put in the machine.
In the scale of hostels this was not a bad set up however it was badly let down by the organisation of the owners. On arrival, the welcome seen in other hostels was not evident, we were let in by other guests and it was not clear where how we located our bunks. Even when the owners arrived they were unsure which bunks would be available.
The information of activities/services in the area was out of date and the guidebook's mention of bike hire was non-existent.
This hostel had the impression that it may have used to be a good stop for travelers and has the potential to be again - at the moment it isn't more than a place to put your head down.
