We were pleased to find that the Quarter House Resort in the French Quarter of New Orleans was not damaged and we were not inconvenienced in any way while we visited New Orleans last week. Most of the restaurants are open or opening shortly. Mike Anderson's on Bourbon St., was still boarded up, but Galatoirs (right next door) was open. The Aquarium and IMAX is open. The RiverWalk Mall, Canal Place Mall are open although not at the full retail capacity as before Katrina. The French Market hasn't gotten back into the fruit and vegetable trade (it's mainly just a flea market) and Loretta's pralines isn't open in the market. Harrah's Casino is open with lots of parking and a big convention was going on at the Convention Center. Except for the heat of the season, we were extremely pleased with our trip.
