High above the Alps at the base of the Eiger is a town called Wengen. The town does not allow cars, so the only mode of transportation is walking. The town is very quaint and friendly. Alpenruhe sits at the end of main street on a quiet street. The views are absolutely amazing from the north side. The rooms on this side are a little more pricey but so worth it. Each room comes with its own bathroom, double bed, television, and balcony with chairs. The view of the Lauterbraun valley is so magnificent! The fields are lush and green and waterfalls are abundant. Each morning we were awakened by the sounds of cow bells from the cows wandering the hillsides. The wonderful host, Marion Prevost, provides breakfast each morning and assistance in the town's happenings. I highly recommend this jewel in the Alps!
