First Night Away without Kids!

My wife and I had our first night away alone together in nearly 20 years and she surprised me with a night at St Andrews Bay.
Everything about the hotel was first class from the service to the food and we enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing 24 hours.
We chose to have dinner in St Andrews and were taken in to town by the courtesy coach. We ate in a lovely little Indian restaurant in College Street, then had a stroll round town and were picked up again by the coach and taken back to the hotel.
We made use of the lovely underused pool on two seperate occasions and liked the touch of the swimming trunks drier in the changing room.
Breakfast was truly memorable, particularly the black pudding (the best I've ever had!); neither of us had to eat until much later the same evening!
St Andrews Bay will be our first choice when doing this again; fantastic!

5 star hotel ... !!! We checked the hotel internet site and at the hotel to make sure we were staying at a 5 star hotel as it certainly didn't feel like it.
It was a special birthday spa weekend for us girls who had been friends since primary many moons ago!! The room's decor was dated, we found 1 bathrobe instead of 3, no glasses to drink our champagne, riped bed linen. The meal was okay, we had to ask for the bread rolls and water and one starter came cold, and the final mistake we can put down to ourselves (having had too much drink to fuel our disappointment) which was were we or were we not entitled to 2 or 3 course dinner inclusive of the price as when the bill came we were advised by the waiter "its quite complicated!!" for him or ourselves who knows...
It was a lot of money that wasn't made special by this hotel and their attitude to come back and we will see if we can do better!!!

St. Andrews Bay Resort & Spa is located just a few miles south of the town of St. Andrews on St. Andrews Bay. The resort is set far from the main road on a large piece of property. The resort also includes two great championship golf courses.
The resort is well equipped to handle all of your needs—from fine dining, a nice bar area, large lobby for relaxing or catching a snack, or the spa facilities. The guest rooms are huge, with views of either the bay or the surrounding grounds. The guest rooms are luxurious and the bathrooms are large. The heated floor in the bathroom was a nice touch, in addition to the heated towel rack.
If you are looking for the best and want to be pampered, St. Andrews Bay Resort & Spa is the place.

Fantastic – five-star service from a five-star hotel. The spa was wonderful, with jacuzzi, pool, and sauna, whilst the rooms had everything you could possibly want, huge beds, ensuite shower and bath and little touches like a newspaper hanging on your door in the morning made it a memorable place to stay. The television in the room was huge, and it was possible to hire out DVDs to watch there. The hotel even had its very own cinema. A great night.
