Soudersburg Motel

The Soudersburg Motel(www.soudersburgmotel.com) is your proto-typical roadside motel that dates back to the late '60s early '70s in design and function. We chose to stay at this place based on location and price. The motel is located about 3 miles from the eastern edge on Lancaster, PA, across the famous Dutch Haven (which I'll write about later...).
After checking into our room, my family noticed how clean and cozy this place was. Usually with most older motels the quality suffers due to the local owners not having deep pockets for updating/remodeling unlike their corporate counterparts.
The decor is somewhat dated but when you plan on spending more time sleeping than anything else, the decor really doesn't matter...the bathroom was spacious and clean and the TV was a nicer quality unit (small cheap hotels usually have small cheap non functioning TVs).
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the pool was clean (it was too cold for swimming...).
This nice thing about the Soudersburg Motel is the location. This place is located right across the street from Dienner's family restaurant and the Dutch Haven gift shop/bakery and about a mile from the famous Miller's Smorgasbord. The motel is located just a few miles from Strasburg, PA (for the train lovers), also very close to shopping, dining, buggy rides, mini-golf, and about 35 minutes from Hershey Park.
The total rate for three nights was under $200 (including tax) for a family of four.
If you have a family and traveling on a budget, then this place comes highly recommended.
