My husband and I needed to escape from reality after he returned from Iraq. We had a wonderful time! We flew in and took a cab to our wonderful hotel. This hotel has so much history. It used to be the residence of royalty, and I bet the service hasn't changed! The food is amazing. The town is within the distance of a beautiful walk. The homes in the town are amazing to look at. The only thing to be aware of is that they do have siesta, so most restaurants don't serve food for a portion of the day.
We ended up picking up some wonderful cheese from the cheese store that you could smell from a block away. We had a hard time not buying out the entire store! Coupling that with some local wine, it held us over until dinner. The people are wonderful and the shops are great! I hadn't ever heard of anyone going there, but it was only because I hadn't mentioned it. After I told my friends about it, they KNEW it was wonderful because they too had escaped there!
The hotel is out on a point of the island that is secluded. There are no neighboring hotels to take the ambiance away. This hotel looks luxury from the outside, and that carries all the the way through the hotel.
