Ritz Carlton Cancun

My husband and I visited the Ritz Carlton Cancun over Labor Day weekend in 2005. Our visit was relaxing and luxurious. The property is beautiful, very clean, and well maintained. It was quiet and peaceful while we were there. This hotel is definitely not for those who come to Cancun to party—it's more for those who are looking to unwind and spend some quality time with family or friends. The beach is a good size, and so is the pool. Our room was spacious, with a king-size bed, minibar, marble bathroom with a tub and shower stall, and a terrace with two chairs. The bed was VERY comfortable and had Frette linens. Every room in the hotel has an ocean view, and the view from our room was absolutely gorgeous—we sat outside for at least an hour every evening just admiring the landscape. The restaurants at the hotel are very good but pricey. For our fifth anniversary, we ate at the Club Grill, which was wonderful. When I made the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything, so I told the hostess about our anniversary. When we arrived at our table, there were rose petals arranged in the shape of five hearts scattered across the table. The chef also sent out a special chocolate fondue dessert, which was amazing. On the way out, the host gave me a rose to take with me. They really made the effort to make our night special. The staff will also serve you dinner in a private palapa on the beach, which looked wonderful, but we didn't have time to take advantage of it. We did order room service several times, and the food was always good and came fairly quickly. The staff at the hotel was very polite and helpful. Every time we saw a staff member, they greeted us with, "Buenas Dias." There is an on-site travel agent who we used to book excursions to Chichen-Itza and Xcaret. The staff at the pool was particularly helpful: they arranged two chairs with towels for us and periodically came by with different snacks, like fresh fruit and homemade Popsicles. The hotel is also within walking distance of La Isla shopping mall, which has a ton of shops and restaurants. All in all, our experience at the Ritz Carlton was wonderful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury hotel in Cancun.
