The hotel is luxurious, but the pricing is moderate. We stayed in Cairo at the Crowne Plaza Resort Sharm El Sheikh Egypt. We paid about $60 a night! However, I know we had a small discount because we had a government rate. The hotel had multiple restaurants, and a wonderful pool. The service was great! I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of people in Cairo—17 million! So it is overcrowded and in my protected western mind, it was hard to adjust. The blessing was to walk back into the hotel after being out in Cairo, it was like going into an oasis of peace and tranquility, it is well worth the money! The hotel is a must. My husband is adventurous and wanted to stay in the Canadian hostel for $3 a day, but I knew that $60 for a 5 star hotel is hard to pass up. We hired a driver to pick us up at the airport, as well as to drive us around the city! I recommend that you do hire a driver. The hotel driver picked us up in a brand new Mercedes with air-conditioning—that is a nice bonus! Most other drivers you can hire on the street do not offer the same type of service that us westerners are used to.
Have fun in Cairo!
