Hotel Splendid

Hotel Splendid is located in a quiet part of Prague, across the Moldau, about fifteen minutes on foot from the city center. The walk is pleasant, through a green park, down the hill that offers a grand view across the old city, and across a bridge over the Moldau river.

Decorated in typical shabby-appearing Eastern Europe style, it boasts three stars, a restaurant and a 24-hour reception. The staff is friendly though not terribly efficient (checking-out took a long time, and if I hadn't mentioned the lunch bill from the restaurant, we'd have eaten for free). Price levels are definitely lower than in Western Europe. We slept well (always one of the most important things in any hotel), though I was rather miffed that there was no hot water at 11pm—cold showers are not my idea of great fun.

But then, I basically chose this hotel for its location: in between the city center and the T-Mobile Arena, where we were attending a concert at night, and it was a good location.
