The Palms Hotel

The jungle-like entrance, with its combed, white-sand paths, immediately invite the travel-weary guests to enjoy the shade and tranquility of this small (13-unit) condominium project located in the heart, and on the beach, of La Isla Bonita. The laid-back, friendly staff of The Palms is welcoming and eager to make its guests feel right at home.

The condos are well maintained and clean, and feature Caribbean-style decor that is open, airy, and colorful. The kitchens are stocked with all the common amenities, such as dishes, cooking utensils, refrigerators, and microwave ovens. The bedrooms are a little small but very clean and comfy, and the bathrooms are generously stocked with clean white towels. The pool area is surrounded by tropical plants, coconut palms, and wonderful poolside seats. The pool itself is clean and warm. The utility sink tucked away behind the pool and the outdoor "Belizean shower" make it convenient to rinse the salt water off divers and equipment after a day of diving or snorkeling.

The Palms is located on a strip of sandy white beach, and a large pier located directly in front of the property is a good place to climb in and enjoy a lazy afternoon of seaside swimming. For those wanting to wander out on different adventures, like snorkeling, diving, or jungle cruises, the efficient staff of The Palms can arrange to have you picked up right from the pier. This property is ideal for those seeking both the services of a well-run hotel as well as many of the comforts of home.

Prices vary slightly depending on the season but range from $168 per night for the poolside casita (no view) to $258 per night for the executive two-bedroom ocean-view suite. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are all happily accepted.

The Palms has the perfect location between town and the south end of the island. It is close enough to walk to just about everything . . . restaurants, the grocery store, nightlife, & Ramone's is right next door. We even walked to the airport! The Palms has a beautiful little secluded pool in the rear and small beach in front of the property. The condos were spacious, clean, well maintained, nicely decorated, etc. Ours had a bedroom and a den, a bathroom, a living room with cable TV, a dining room, and a full kitchen. There are three floors to the Palms. All floors have either a spacious patio or balcony. The advantage of the first floor is a private beach area with lounge chairs for sunning, while the upper two floors offer better views. Either way, I think you'll enjoy a stay at The Palms. We visited in the off-season for about $100 a night. We felt very satisfied with our stay here and will be back.
