Our family (our two girls, ages 5 and 10, my husband, and I) stayed at the Balboa Park Inn this past fall, 2005. We stayed in the “Emma’s Diary” suite, which has two double beds in separate rooms, a kitchen area, and a full bath. We also had a door leading onto the sun deck, which was a great place to enjoy the breakfast that was brought to our room each morning. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was kept very clean.
The hotel is about half a mile from the entrance to the San Diego Zoo and perhaps almost a mile to the entrance to Balboa Park. We chose to walk to both places. With the walking you’ll do within the parks, it’s pretty good exercise! Visit the Balboa Park Inn website to explore the different suites and rooms. They have some pretty interesting themes: http://www.balboaparkinn.com/.
