If one visits the internet page of ponce suites, it seems to be an interesting and nice place ...
There is lots of art, inside and around the hotel, designed by the artist Kublai Millan, who's the son of the owner. You'll find sculptures, paintings, photos and relief's in any kind of style. This still makes the place interesting. But unfortunately it has been bad maintained during the years.
We booked the only suite, which turned out to be in a bad shape. Dirty walls, shabby furniture, no side tables, in fact no side lamps, thin foam mattresses, bathroom really basic and dirty, for the TV there was no remote control available and the phone couldn't be used due to a strange background noise.
Since the suite wasn't worth it, we decided after our first night to move into a smaller double room. We had a look at several double rooms. One was recently renovated, but since it was located at the first floor it was too dark.
Finally we moved into a room at the 3rd floor, which was 50% cheaper then the suite, but not better maintained. The condition of the bathroom was similar to the bathroom of the suite.
On our first evening we wanted to have dinner at the wonderful roof terrace. The most of the food of the basic menu wasn't available. What we finally received was salty and nearly inedible.
The breakfast next morning was even worse. I was looking forward to a continental breakfast. According the menu consisting of toast, butter, marmalade, coffee or tea and additional a choice of several variations of eggs, sausages, bacon or ham etc. What I finally received was toast and scrambled eggs and a very watery coffee. No milk, no sugar, no butter no marmalade or jam ... simply not available.
I have been at several places in the Philippines. I got better value for a lower price. It's a pity that this obviously once very nice place isn't better maintained. It would be worth a visit ...

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, Ponce Suites it is! This is home to the artistic fruits of the owner’s son, named Kublai. You’ll find giant garden set at the roof deck and giant ants crawling on the ceiling. It has a television set, air-conditioned rooms with private baths.
The last I heard, Kublai added more sculptures within and outside the hostel. It is an artist haven and is a very private place since this is located inside a village which is a few distance from the main thoroughfares.
