Description: The Mercure Hotel Berlin City West, formerly the Novotel, is a nice clean hotel located in a great area. Only 3km from the Berlin-Tegel airport, the Mercure Hotel is surrounded by lush greenery. The rooms are modern, yet extremely small. With one bed and two roll aways, this small room was a tight squeeze for three girls with too much luggage. The beds were rather hard, but still slept great after a long day of touring. It is obvious that the rooms and hotel is designed for business people, with Internet access in each room and paid access in the lobby. The hotel is located just minutes from the fair area, and the convention and exhibition center. Public transportation is also highly accessible. Just a short walk from the hotel is a bus stop. Each room offers a shower, iron, phone, radio, modem line, TV, and wake up service. The hotel does not provide washcloths, which is common as is most of Europer, so I would suggest providing your own disposable washcloth. The staff was very accommodating to the needs of us young Americans. Each morning a buffet style breakfast was served. This breakfast included options such as cereal, eggs, various pastries, numerous beverages, and meats. Expect a large breakfast unlike the American continental breakfast. I would suggest taking advantage of this food and filling up for a long day of travelling. For more information on the Novotel chains and for reservations visit novotel.com. I do not know the exact price, but the rooms were reasonable compared to the rest of Berlin.
