This is a great place for those who wish to get away from it all, relax and have a good time. We stayed on the top floor and the view was absolutely amazing. There's no TV, radio, or telephone. Why would you spoil such a place with things like that?The owner, Helmut, is a remarkable man who is well worth knowing. He certainly has quite a few interesting stories to tell. If you eat at the resort, and I recommend you do, he will occasionally eat with you and give you suggestions on things to do.Willy, a laid back yet pensive man, is a fine cook who will go out of his way to please the guests. We got to know him well in the week that we spent there. He certainly makes a great dinner companion.The resort is almost never full. That's the way the owner likes it. If you want to use the gazebo, the pool, or the ping pong table, chances are you will have them all to yourself. Located at the top of a hill, Jamaica Heights is not exactly pedestrian friendly. Taxi rides are reasonably priced. If you are staying more than a couple of days, a good idea is to establish a relationship with a local cab driver, so that you can call on him when you need a ride.The few other guests you will encounter are likely to be offbeat and friendly. The Italians made pasta for everyone one night. It was nice. We also met a young American surfing couple. We ended up spending a lot of time with them.My traveling companion and I have always had our ups and down, but for one week we got along perfectly. Could this beautiful resort have something to do with that?
