My close friends from vet school and I are trying to do an annual 'girl's trip'....um, annually. The inaugural trip was small (just my friend Steph and me) (yes, her name is Steph too), to Santa Fe (reviewed in one of my IgoUgo journals).
The second trip more people were able to attend: Deanna, Audrey, Steph and myself. We chose Sedona AZ as our destination, for its natural beauty, selection of activities, and ease of travel.
We stayed at the Apple Orchard Inn, a modern bed and breakfast with a view of Steamboat Rock.
We stayed two to a room and had more than enough space for our stuff in large armoires. The king-sized beds were comfy with nice linens. We each had a nightstand with reading lamps. The room in which I stayed, the Steamboat Rock room, had a nice table with stationery, pens, etc.
The bathrooms were spacious with enough drawers for our toiletries. The water pressure was great and having enough hot water was never an issue. Our bathroom had a shower/whirlpool tub combo.
My room had a small enclosed patio that opened to the back deck where we had breakfast.
One of the highlights was the lovely Jacuzzi and cold dip tubs that were available off the breakfast patio.
Breakfasts were filling, consisting of breakfast burritos and other hearty meals.
Afternoon hors d' oeuvres and fresh baked cookies were available. Although they had wine we brought our own on occasion.
The sitting room was a cozy gathering place as well, filled with comfortable couches, ottomans, magazines and books.
The innkeeper and her assistants were more than happy to recommend restaurants, make reservations, and recommend and arrange activities. They introduced us to Bennie from Earthtours.
Many of us flew on Southwest Airlines -- the innkeeper left the office open so we could access and print out our boarding passes in the middle of the night.
