We arrived on Sunday late afternoon, feeling exhausted and a bit emotional. Taking the chartered De Palm bus to our resort "La Cabana."
After check-in, we were sent marching to the back of the resort "The Villa’s" where our front door faced the parking lot and our back door faced "La Cabana Nana" building.
We took a walk by the pool with the big slide and there it was, her dream "The Swim up Bar" however, we were surrounded by five hundred children and their parents, blaring boom boxes playing music from different countries! Okay, the tears were starting to form!
We took the long walk past Dunkin Donuts, through a lobby, across the parking lot, through another lobby, past some stores, a much nicer pool, across the street to the most beautiful Eagle Beach.
We sat and watched the sunset and wiggled our toes in the sand. This was not what we imagined! We decided we would not allow this to ruin our trip to Aruba and made a decision to make the best of this resort. We decided to rent a jeep and explore the island "Woman Style!"
Please don't get me wrong! La Cabana is probably a paradise for those with children, they have Three Pools, Two waterslides, one which is a loop d'loop slide, kids programs and more! But for us, we wanted the ocean, the sunsets, the romance of Aruba!
The greatest part of this resort, the Iguana's - They just pop out of nowhere and are bountiful! The staff we experienced were more than helpful and accommodating - The food at the ocean side of the resort, was delightful (our only meal there) We loved sitting by the bar (ocean side) and hearing the live music! Happy hour was entertaining to say the least!
Cleanliness... Well, how could a resort with 500 kids screaming and throwing their empty wrappers and cups around be clean? And parent's who just sit back watching and smiling... Our room was somewhat clean - though I had to clean the bathroom, as the remnants of the people before us remained.
Would I recommend this resort? Probably not. Don't shoot me La Cabana Timeshare Owners. The price is great there, but really you do get what you pay for!!!
