The hotel sits on the coast with wonderful lava rock tide pools full of fish, sea turtles and other interesting sea life. It is right next to one of the best snorkling beaches on the island. The beautiful landscraped grounds, abundant birds, historical site, and open ground floor lobby and restaurant facilities put you into the Hawaiian mood. My room came with breakfast which was a complete buffet of many hot and cold items. The room was comfortable and air conditioned for the hot humid afternoons. I would stay here again.

We stayed 7 days at the end of Feb. '09. A very nice location & setting. We had a partial ocean view room on the 4th floor that faced the southeast. It had an unobstruced view of the ocean to the west & overlooked the courtyard/entrance area in front. The rooms were neat, clean & comfortable. Nothing fancy for the decor. Typical for a Hawaii hotel of that age. Room included hair dryer, iron & board, coffeemaker with Kona coffee packets & tea, small fridge & a safe w/an actual key. Plenty of towels. Mini-lotions & shampoo & soaps of a coconut-lime scent. Breakfast buffet is included for all guests. This consisted of rice, pancakes, a daily roatating meat & potato selection, pancakes, breads, small pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh tropical fruits, Kona coffee & tea. Also milk, O.J., guava juice & ice water. This is exactly what they have so you can decide if you think it's adequate for your needs. A couple of times the juice seemed pretty watered down, otherwise, I thought everything tated just fine. Very few places include free breakfast in Hawaii. The hotel staff very friendly in all areas from housekeeping to the front desk & dining area. There's no longer a restaurant for dinner here. But there are "basket type " meals available in the Verandah lounge in the evenings. They have a small exercise room w/treadmill, elliptical, bikes & weights. Parking is $7 per day or $10 for valet parking. The pool area is nice, nothing out of the ordinary. On the north side of the hotel-grounds, a public beach with some of the best snorkeling in Hawaii! There's a trolley service that goes into Kona town several times a day. We were very satisfied & would stay again!

As always, same great service, good breakfast ocean-side, and giant turtles on the beach each night. Saw whales from the veranda several afternoons. Very relaxing and atmosphere is superb. The grounds continue to be improved and the ocean walks are much missed back in the cold midwest.

I have been to the big island of hawaii twice now and I have stayed here both times. It was great, i loved the hotel and our rooms were simple yet elegant. The room was very clean and had a tropical feel to it. The lanai is great also. It was definatly worth the money and next time I return to the big island of hawaii and will most definatly be staying here again.

My mother, 12 y/o son and I stayed 4 days here over New Year's 2008. We had just checked out of the Sheraton Keahou to extend our stay and was pleasantly surprised. For less than half the price, we had a beautiful (and far superior!) ocean view, comfortable room and veranda and wonderful service, including a full breakfast buffet every morning. This was inlcuded in the price of the room. There is a sufficient restaurant/bar in this hotel that has beautiful views and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and this hotel has the benefit of being adjacent to the best snorkeling beach in the general area.
The rooms are pretty minimilist but clean and comfortable. We were much more satisfied with the service and cleanliness here than other surrounding hotels and will most likely stay here again when we return. This hotel has some very pretty grounds, including a few sacred sites that are currently being restored, which makes them very interesting to learn about. This hotel is also very handy to just about anything one would want to do on the island. They also have an Expedia concierge desk that we did not make use of, but there is someone at it most of the time to help with making plans for activities.
Grade A all the way.
