Disappointed

We were very disappointed in this hotel. From walking in the door till us living 3 hours later because we would rather drive the rest of the way home instead of spending the night there.
Basically it's an apartment house for workers or the homeless. There were welcome signs on the rooms doors. I smelled smoke in a non smoking floor. Key wouldn't open first room, was given a second room and it smelled.
Outside was very nice, but looks can be deceiving.
We'll come back!

"We chose the location because it was convenient to Monterey and Santa Cruz -- about 45 minutes from each. There's plenty to do within an hour drive in any direction, but not much right in town except for two movie theaters -- lots of stores and places to eat. It was very quiet thanks to the location and the lack of daily maid sevice (a plus in our way of thinking). The kitchen was more than adequate and the room was very clean and spacious, but plainly decorated."
