This Resort is Definately not 4 stars

We stayed at this hotel after the 4th of July and after several calls down to the front desk and house keeping, our room was finally cleaned at 6:00p.m. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing east, however, our view down below was of a catch for all garbage area that was filled with broken chairs, building materials, mismatched shelves, etc. This was not your regular dumpster area for the hotel daily garbage, it was a area where they just throw things that was not collected from waste management. We paid an additional $25 per day for uses of their facility such as beach chairs, gym, towel rental and so on. When we went to reserve the beach chairs as requested, to our surprise, only 2 chairs where allowed per room regardless of how many people in the room. Therefore, with a family of 4, two of us where not allowed to sit on the chairs! This resort haves lots of hype but when it comes to delivering customer satisfaction, our family was dissappointed with their delivery.

Would probably stay there again

I did enjoy the resort, however, the food and beverages were very, very pricy. You definitely should pack a cooler for the pool/beach. I expected jellyfish and stingrays at the beach, but it was actually very nice. A little shelly in certain places, but otherwise a very nice beach. Hotel staff was very accommodating. Rooms could definitely use an update but the beds were comfortable. Getting around town was pretty easy and lots of decent restaurants for our family. All in all, we got a great deal through online travel website (which included the $* per night amenity fee). Had we made reservations directly with the airline and hotel, I would think it would have been a horribly expensive vacation.

We had no idea about this hotel when we picked it. It was great. We loved all the activities of the hotel. The location was great and it had a super beach. The staff was very helpful. The refridg. and utensils in the room were great. I would stay here again!

I had no idea what I was getting when I booked this hotel online. I had read the reviews of plenty of hotels - most of them sounded dumpy and I wasn't in the mood for dumpy on this trip. We just needed a place to stay for one night at the end of a long trip already and I still wanted to feel like I was on vacation. This place did not disappoint me. The beds were comfortable. It was clean. The bathrooms were huge! I want to say that the kitchen had a full size refrigerator - but it was on the smaller side. Still plenty large for vacation with a REAL freezer section! I actually like the hum air conditioners make at hotels because it gives me a white noise buffer to children running up and down the halls and people laughing outside. This one, however, had a pinging sound to it that sounded like something was loose. I didn't have any problems sleeping though because the bed was so comfortable. We had dinner at Bermuda's. The food was so delicious I'm still thinking of the wonderful soup we had. Our waiter was annoying - bordering on surly. He did not seem to want to listen to my order. While my husband received everything he asked for, I had to ask twice for several things. When he brought over the dessert try I said that I would like the cheesecake. Ten minutes later, instead of cheesecake, he brought the check! He was NOT attentive nor did he pay attention to the people he was serving. My husband thought he was trying to get us out because our table was one of the best for viewing the sunset - which was going down at that time.

It's a good resort

The Tradewinds is a big grand resort, the only one of its size on this strip in St. Pete's. As long as you go into it knowing it's a resort, you'll like your stay. This means there will be weddings, corporate meetings and corporate events. It's kid friendly so lots of kids too but also romantic couples and people just getting away. But, it also means there are plenty of activities to get involved with, from water sports, beach activities, kids activities, etc. There are five bars or so, restuarants, you name it. It's a resort. You pay for it too but that's what a resort is. So, my wife and I got away for three days from Chicago and we knew what it was and we had a great time. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Sure the A/C is loud but all A/C units are loud. Beach was fantastic. Sitting all day in the cabana's was just what we needed. The activity along the beach was great. At night we took in live music at beachside bars and ate at one great seafood restaurant called madfish (next to deep fried crabby bills). Everyone was very nice at the resort but nothing is cheap, and that's what a resort is, not cheap. That being said, we know it cost $25.00 at other places to rent a cabana for a day so the daily $25.00 fee didn't bother us. All in all we recommend it greatly for a resort.
