My husband and I decided to take 3 of our grandchildren to St. Augustine Beach for their Spring Break. Since they are small children (6, 4 and 2) we wanted to stay in an area that wasn't over crowded with teenagers and college students. Since we had been to the Saint Augustine/Saint Augustine Beach area before, we chose the Hampton Inn on Saint Augustine Beach.
I have never been more pleased with a family oriented, beachfront hotel before. Our small suite was perfect in size and was very clean. Normally in a family oriented beachfront hotel, you can't get away from the sand. If you didn't go outside you'd never know you were sitting so close to the beach.
The morning breakfast was always hot and plentiful, the room was always clean no matter how crowded. These three grandchildren are picky about food, but, left full every morning!
Very seldom have I run into staff so friendly. Everyone had a smile to share.
I can't say I would come to this hotel if I were a young couple looking for a romantic get a way, but, if you have a family, if you enjoy being around families, want friendly and helpful staff, this is the place to stay. My husband and I will visit again with or without grandchildren!
The hotel and grounds are exactly as pictured. The play area is wonderful for children, the beach is clean. There were a couple of days when the clouds didn't interfere and we were able to sit on our room balcony and watched the sun come up with coffee as the kids slept. Needless to say, that was nice and our quiet time for the day.
Excellent Stay

Located directly on St. Augustine Beach, this hotel provides an excellent stay for the value and location. We choose the two-queen suite ocean-side (our room was on the 4th floor, the highest), which incuded a sitting area, the two queens, and a balcony with a direct view of the Atlantic. The room provided ample room for a family of 4, and would still be comfortable (the suite included a couch) for a 5th family member. The entire back-side of the hotel overlooks the pool, hot-tub, and the Atlantic, with good views of the ocean from the 2nd through the 4th floors. A short board-walk from the hotel brings you directly to the beach. This section of beach is of a fine white sand, excellent for sand castles, playing, biking, and walking for miles. The hotel facilities included a playground and rinse off facilities at the end of the board-walk. Our room was clean and the hotel staff very helpful, including providing good recommendations for nearby restaurants. The pool is outdoor and not heated, and thus was a bit cool in early January. The hot tub was a good temperature and provided a good warm-up after a dip in the pool or the Atlantic. Included in the room price was a breakfast buffet that was open from 6 to 10 am. We always arrived after 9 am, and there was adequate quantities of fresh fruit, cold cereals, juices, coffee, bread items, and a few hot items to have sufficient choices for all the family. This part of St. Augustine is significantly less hectic than downtown St. Augustine (about 5 minute drive away). We as a family were looking for a hotel with a view of the Atlantic, we found it here and would gladly return.

We are long time H.H. members and always try to stay at Hilton Hotels but we were very disappointed at this hotel. Bath room is dirty and the bed was very used and none of the plush tops you are use to. The staff at the desk was bad also. Pool dirty and hot even worse. Food in the morning was empty and so was the coffee. Might as well have stayed at a Days Inn or Super Eight I expect that kind of service there.

I really liked this hotel! The front desk service was excellent. I found the hotel to be clean and private. The pool and the sauna were very nice as well. The pool did look like it could use a good scrubbing, but that is probably something that is done on a monthly basis. Access to the ocean, restaurants, and other activities is great. My only complaint about my stay is that the bathroom had a sewer smell to it. I hope the hotel staff will investigate this and solve the problem.

I took my mother, sister and her two children 3 & 10 here for a vacation. They had never seen the ocean, and I thought this would be a good vacation for them. I was wrong....This was an Unbelievable vacation. We didn't want to leave..The Hotel rooms were great and the staff was exceptional. We wanted for nothing. I have stayed here in the past, and plan to stay here in the future. If your looking for a clean hotel, close to the beach with a friendly staff....Stay here. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
