The Westin Hotel

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was very clean. The bedding is very comfortable. The shower really relaxes you. The staff is courteous. Overall, I would book this hotel again or possibly the Westin spas and resorts the next trip.

AMBIVALENT

Stayed at the Westin Ft. L. last yr and wanted to go back this year, due to the great workout facility, but was disappointed this time around. Westin prides itself on the "Westin Fitness Program" but the universal maching that was there last year was gone and there were no stability balls to use even tho stability ball workouts are a big part of their training videos! Very disappointed! Ended up buying a pass to a local gym. Also, the hotel's Internet Provider service was not working for the last 3 days of our stay and the ice machine on our floor didn't work. They tried to fix it but it stayed broken. On the other hand, great rooms, and pool area and when we asked to be moved to a room away from the ice mach. and elevator, we were gladly accomodated. So, if you're in to fitness/weight training it's not the hotel for you anymore.

Great experience

I chose this hotel for two reasons, the trademark *Heavenly Bed and the room rate. The hotel is located in the corporate section of town so there are no stores to walk to for quick items. It is right off I-95 on Cypress Creek Road. Drive time to Ft. Lauderdale International Airport is about 20 minutes. Was aware the hotel was under renovation and I can report construction changes are now completed. Parking in this facility is a bit complex because the hotel is also next to an office facility. The two share the same parking vacinity which they have marked off by large urns with plants. Although I was not charged for parking, I did see a sign for $3 a day for parking. I require handicapped parking and baggage assistance. It was midnight when I arrived and valet was closed, however, the front desk found a staff member to park my vehicle and bring my keys up to my room. This is just one example of where I found the staff friendly and accomodating. The bedding in my room was fresh with a good support mattress and pillows, crisp linens that made for solid night's sleep. Overall I found the room clean with plenty of towels and personal use amenities. The desk had internet port connections on the surface of the workspace. There was also a nice large flat screen television as well with optional movie purchase in room. This hotel also offers spa services. Overall, I had a great stay and plan to stay there again.

Not worth the price

I stayed in the Westin during a recent trip and found the hotel in renovations. The staff during the stay would only say passing words to you and everything was over priced. You have to pay 10 dollars a night for parking even though sometimes when you left the parknig area nobody was in there to take your ticket. The pool was closed during my stay but they offered to let me swim at another hotel across the street. The Rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable but the mini bar is way overpriced so I recommend turning down the key and finding a convience store nearby to stock up on snacks. For the price of everything you would expect better service but everytime you went past the front desk they would only say hello but never ask how your stay is going or how they could make it better. Upon check out the clerk only had enough time to check me out because she was talking on the phone with a friend or family and I wasn't important enough to ask questions to. I will never stay at a Westin again. One note, during the off-season in Florida call the hotel before you book to see if there are any renovations going on, it will make the experience a whole lot better.

Under rennovation not up to my standards.

The hotel is under rennovation and undergoing a lot of repair. Expect temporary panels to guide you to the elevators, and detours up and down the back stairwell to get you to the pool and fitness center. The hotel looks, feels, and probably is a converted office building. The room was not suited for an upscale hotel. The beds were comfortable, the desk staff nice, but all-in-all, I was disappointed and will probably not stay here next time.
