For almost 30 years we have stayed at the West Wind. ( From my first time florida visit to our hooneymoon and many years with our daughters) We traditionally stay in a Gulf front kitchenette. ( 20 feet from the beach) Take a right at the beach and you can walk for miles with very few people around. I have many trophy shells from over the years. I`ll never forget my first visit and I can`t wait for my next. There is only one problem,,, I`m always sad when we walk out to the beach on the morning we fly home. Wondering if I`ll be able to come back again.

Beautiful Beach....

The location was a nice quiet place, but the room was pretty small especially the bath room. We had a relaxing time, not sure if I would stay at the same place again if I go with the kids not enough room. This time it was just me and my husband and peacefulness was just what we needed. Overall nice location and serivce.

awsume spot!

We had booked 2 nights but we stayed an extra night because it was great. It is located just over a sand dune from the Gulf. The beach is wide and covered in shells. This was the first time we have been to Sanibel. It was really neat. The ocean was good for swimming and wading here. We never experienced too much undertow even when the tides changed. The pool had colored lights at night so you could swim after dark. The rooms were immaculate. It was completely comfortable walking around a night. This is not really a party spot so if that is what you are looking for it is not for you. It was great for beach, ocean, dinning, and experiencing nature. Tarpon Bay wildlife preserve was very nice. We took a pontoon boat trip and saw dolphins, manatees, and hundreds of birds. We took a canoe trip. It was very nice. The island mosquito patrol use a control specific to mosquitoes so they were not a problem. The island has hundreds of miles of bicycle trails and several places to rent them. The hotel even has it's own bike rentals. I will definitely return to this hotel! It was a great experience and we got a lot for the price.

...which is friendliness and cleanliness. My husband and I found the West Wind Inn extremely clean and comfortable. From the comforters on the beds, the linens, to the beds and pillows themselves, everything was wonderful. You didn't get that feeling you had to remove the comforter and disinfect the bathroom as soon as you walked in. The bathrooms were very clean and a lot of attention was paid to detail. We went for our 25th anniversary and didn't want the spring break scene. The WWI is exactly what we were looking for...quite, clean, and out of the hustle and bustle. I do suggest bringing a hair dryer as theirs is quite outdated and has no power. There are plenty of clean towels for the pool or beach available everyday. The restaurant has good food but is only open until 2:00p.m. during the week. Matzaluna's is great and reasonable for Italian food. Most restaurants have a ton of seafood. Island Cow is cute and has quite a variety. Jerry's is a great grocery store and it is in a cute shopping center. We had a lovely time and can't wait to go back to the West Wind!

liked it!
