Description: First, a clarification: the Palm Plaza Resort is NOT a block from the beach as they say – it’s more like three or four. Not bad, but the water you see from the balcony is the intracoastal and seen across another property.
The property was ok, but not exceptional by any stretch. The rooms were tired, but fairly clean -- some cockroaches and plumbing fixtures were inexcusably falling apart in the (obviously original) shower. We paid $100 per night on the weekend for a room with two queen beds, which is a good rate for Ft Lauderdale in January.
Breakfast was not served poolside, as described, but left in your room the day before so you could take it poolside if you desired. The heated pool was only minimally heated -- we had to have it turned up in order to swim after dark. There is NO hot tub (I saw various reports that mentioned one). The property is clothing-optional, but not as private or secure as other clothing-optional resorts in Ft Lauderdale (the gate was never locked and pool area was visible from the street to a determined peeper.)
Public areas were tidy, but the spotty lawn and leaky sprinkler system made sunning a bit muddy and the pool chairs were all broken. There is no internet access on site, except phone jacks on the room phones. Wireless access is being established for those who travel with laptop. We recommended an internet terminal for guest access.
Overall, it was cheap and ok, but I won't stay here again.
