Disappointed

The hotel is located off a major highway leading into NO, but is difficult to get to, partly due to the construction in the area. If you arrive by plane, you have to shell out $$ or more per taxi trip into NO and back--not very traveler friendly. Definitely better if you have your own transportation--either rental car or your own. Don't count on the shuttle to/from airport--unreliable. Second, don't count on going anywhere by foot--it's next to impossible because of the layout of the streets and lack of sidewalks. The hotel itself is outdated. It's OK for short stays. The rooms are in dire need of upgrade, color scheme dates back to the 70s, dirtly carpeting with many horrible stains, still reeks of tobacco smoke, even though it's non-smoking now. The room A/C/heat sounded like a jet plane taking off. Mostly in the off position during stay, plus the stale odor coming out was not pleasant. The weather stripping around the door was absent, so lots of cold air seeped in. Don't count on the internet; it mostly does not work. There is a business center located on the 2nd floor of the main building, but only one computer. Used that to print my boarding passes. The breakfast is OK for the usual fare--hot and cold cereal, assorted breads and pastries, however, no juices available. Also has eggs and sausage, but did not eat that. My room had the usual coffeemaker, but didn't use because of the crud in the water reservoir--nasty looking. Only booked there because of wedding in area. Overall a very run down hotel. Would not stay there again. Staff OK, nothing to brag about.
