Upon our arrival at 6 pm on Friday, August 7, 2009, we were helped register by a friendly clerk. We had asked for a room with a kingsize bed, first floor, non-smoking. The entrance to our first floor room faced the parking, which was limited and we had to double-park to unload and then park behind the restaurant next door overnight. We are non-smokers and could smell the lingering cigarette smoke that was in the carpeting and mattress. The room was nicely furnished and clean, the bed was comfortable. There were no toiletries except soap in the bathroom. There was the typical card stating "need something, call the office", but standing in your underwear in the bathroom is not usually a good time to call for shampoo and lotion. The room had only one electrical outlets under the table/desk for our two laptops and mini-frig--a typical problem in older hotels. The wi-fi was free, when it worked. When we had a connection it was very, very slow and the signal was very weak. On Saturday morning I woke at 7, dressed, grabbed my work computer, and headed for the breakfast room that La Quinta had posted around the lobby and online. Everything was individually wrapped in plastic--the muffins, the bagels, cream cheese, etc. The cereal was in bulk in a dispenser. The dozen or two hard boiled eggs were still in their shells and warm. I got a cup of coffee, a bowl of cereal, and an egg--the only protein on the breakfast bar (no cheese, no bacon/meat, no nuts). After I had finished my computer work it was 8 pm and I went over to the breakfast bar to get an egg and some coffee to take back to the room for my wife. There were no eggs left. I asked the counter clerk when they would bring out some more eggs. He said, "When they are gone, that's it!" I replied that this would make for a bad review by me on the internet, so he said that he would check with the 'onsight engineer' who was somewhere on the premises. Needless to say, by 9 am the eggs had not arrived, Fortunately there was a fast-food restaurant nearby.
MY OVERALL OPINION IS THAT THE LA QUINTA CORPORATION WANTS TO HAVE A PUBLIC IMAGE THAT THEY PRODUCE WITH ADVERTISING, NOT ACTUAL PERFORMANCE. In my case it was a non-smoking room that was previously used by smokers, free wi-fi that was non-functioning, and a breakfast that was 'limited quantities just for the early risers.' All 3 features were part of why we chose them in the first place. NEVER AGAIN, LA QUINTA!

Very Surprised

Hotel very hard to access, room was not available for check in when promised, didnt get the type of room I had reserved, just settled for a room beacuse I knew it was a losing battle. Room was fairly clean, still had to go buy cleaning products and clean the bathroom. The lady at the front desk was nice, just overwhelmed..Breakfast gone by 7:00a.m. every morning, staff not really concerned about it. Overall a poor experience, will make sure and look at another hotel chain next time.

Quiet and Clean

We stayed at this location for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is situated approx 30 min from downtown and has easy access to I75. There are several places to eat within walking distance and short drive to anything else. Breakfast was full of selections to please even my picky eaters. We would certainly stay here again.

About what one would expect in a hotel

This La Quinta was clean and looked fairly modern. The first "non-smoking" room we were given had obviously been smoked in, but we were switched to one that smelled fine. We were not told that the free breakfast time shifts earlier on weekdays, so we missed our free breakfast one day. Breakfast is a good cold breakfast, with cereal, coffee, OJ, muffins, bagels, yogurt, etc.

Caution! Police raids, beggars, and filthy rooms!

Do not stay at this hotel, unless you like watching police raids into a couple of rooms right below yours, or, fending off homeless beggars that want your money and wander around the balconies of your hotel. There were no towels, no soap...
