It looked good from the outside, but...

The hotel was a disappointment from the first (of three) rooms we were provided in one night. The first room smelled of smoke, and did not have a functional heater. In the second room, the lights did not work. In spite of the appeals of the staff to stay in the unlighted room, we requested another room. The third room was in questionable condition - it was nicely appointed, but the bathroom floor was not clean and there were some stains on the wall in the living area. Additionally, the trip to/from the third floor was unpleasant because of the strong odor of urine inside the elevator. As an added bonus, the bill had charges on it which were incorrect, and required additional time to check out in the morning. We will not be staying in this hotel for any of our future trips to Irvine.
Gone way downhill

In-room "complimentary high-speed Internet access" actually costs $9.95 per day. Business center has no free services ($3 minimum charge). I received a minor phone charge, but I never touched the phone. Neither I nor my business companion could get either room warmer than 65 degrees after sundown, even when thermostats were set to 85. Staff got slightly defensive and argumentative when asked about this. Had none of these problems a year ago when I last visited. Was OK, now unpleasant.
