After driving down I-5 from the SF Bay Area we were ready for a relaxing dip in the hot tub and a good night's rest before going to Disneyland.
First problem, they can't find our reservations, but finally they get it all sorted out. I don't know how you lose a reservation for four rooms, but I guess it happens.
Next problem, we were to have all non-smoking rooms. When I entered my room on the first floor it smelled very, very odd. My husband noted the ashtrays and we went right back to the office to ask for a different room. They only had one room available on the third floor, luckily there was an elevator.
After tracking down the rest of our party, who were all on the second floor on different sides of the building, we went to inquire about a place to eat. The desk clerk couldn't think of any place, security gave two recommendations, McDonald's (across the street) or Denny's (next-door).
After dinner we met some very freaky people in the hot tub and listened to our friend complain about the air-conditioning not working in his room (they offered another room where the air too was not working), and that you had to pay to get a remote control.
The hot tub was tiny, five of us were squeezed in there and the pool was slightly larger. The all night parking security was a bit strange, but next-door the Motel 6 was gated in and had security. My sister had stayed at the Motel 6 next-door previously and said it was much nicer.
So, the moral of the story is, next time stay at Motel 6 if you want a "good nite".
