We were at La V for a wedding. Our room was outstanding. The bed was the best that I've ever slept in, including my own. Food at the hotel was wonderful, as was the service. La V is close to the shore, shopping and dining. We used the unlimited valet service, although we could have easily done without it. Staff went out of their way to make our stay the best. Undoubtedly the nicest hotel I've been in.

Very elegant Old Hotel. Great and Friendly service. Fresh flowers throughout the Foyer and reception area. Beautiufl antique fixtures and elevator. If your looking for new and modern this is not your place. If you love the Hotel Del this is another Grande Dame you should put on your must stay list.
Convenient location in the village. Walk to dinner, beach and of course the fabulous upscale shopping!! Sit out on the veranda overlooking the pool and ocean - have a cocktail relax - no one should be in a hurry when in La Jolla.
Rooms are mostly quite small but romantic with nice views, crystal chandeliers and very comfy beds, and high thread count sheets.
Vigaluccis is great for Italian, and down the street for great views and fabulous service try Georges at the cove...Rooftop bar for a drink and sunset is a must!!!
Kayaking La Jolla is also a great way to see this unique cove and check out the sealions and garibaldi down below.
La Jolla truly is a jewel, and as such can have a sparkiling high price, if you like to splurge a little this is your town.

I love this hotel, its one of the most beautiful I have ever stayed at, and very romantic. Great for kids or lovers. Best location in La Jolla, and the ocean views are breathtaking. If you want to be by the pool, beach, cafe's, dining, shops, sports, diving, swimming, this hotel is close to it all.
Nice and convenient location.

Sometimes it is hard to judge from the pictures that are posted in this website. At first glance, I would have thought that the hotel is secluded from the outside world and have its own private beach. When we arrived there, we realized the hotel is actually situated on the main street of a busy shopping areas. During weekend, there are a lot of traffic flows and visitors passing by the hotel. The beach is actually one block away from the hotel.
The hotel is nice for those who prefers convenience of shopping and there are many restaurants within walking distance. Valet parking is a must since one would never find a vacant parking meter around.
Nonetheless, the hotel is well maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I wish the swimming pool is more seclusive and fewer visitors passing by. The beach and coves behind the hotel are nice (especially during sunset) and they are popular with visitors to town. If you prefer a stay where you can find everything within walking distance, this is the hotel to stay. However, if you would like to walk on a quiet beach during sunset, I suggest to choose other places.

Overall, the hotel was very nice but the room we initially had was too small and had no view of anything We'd want to see and insufficient space in the bathroom and room itself. The housekeeping staff spoke little if any English and communications other than with supervisors was very difficult.
