Whale Watching Trip

Great Inn. Rooms were small, but were clean, quaint, and view was fantastic. After a long day of whale watching it was great to come back to hot coffee and fresh cookies each day. Will definitely stay here again.

Going to the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn is like going home. Always relaxing, this is the perfect place for a low key vacation ... even our college-aged sons loved it. All the rooms have been completed updated within the past year, including high-count linens and duvets. A B&B atmosphere with hotel amenities. This was our second visit and we will be back again and again.
Friendly fun for a family with disabled child

Loved our stay here! The pool is truly heated, the staff is friendly and warm, the breakfast food and dining area was spectacular (windowed views of the ocean), and the main house offered some unexpected help with keeping a 16 and 12 year old happy by providing a terrific free DVD library, pool table, and dart board. The large, beautifully kept front lawn was a great place to fly kites, Frisbees, or gather at the end of the day with a cup of coffee (free Starbuck coffee, available in the main house, all day long ? any parents dream!). The breakfast was more elaborate than expected, with cheese, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, cereal, and amazing breads and muffins that are freshly baked each day. My family and I presented several challenges to the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn (a 250 lbs power wheelchair) and they handled every issue with amazing speed, never making us feel like we had caused a problem. With no prior notice of our needs, they produced and added a ramp to the main house within an hour of our arrival and had a perfect solution for navigating the 2 small steps into our room within 5 minutes. Although not advertised as an accessible room, our daughter?s large power wheelchair had more than enough room to navigate after a little furniture rearranging. This place is kid-friendly, gay-friendly, disability-friendly, and just plain friendly-friendly. Will be vacationing here for many years to come.
Home Away From Home

Bass Rocks Ocean Inn is our favorite place away from home. For over 20 years, we've visited the Cape Ann area. We've stayed with friends and we've stayed in other hotels in the area. When we found the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn we felt like we finally found the perfect place that we want to return to year after year. The staff is well-trained, friendly and make you feel welcomed and at home. We enjoyed the open and generous continental breakfast. We also appreciated the all-day coffee and lemonade and the fresh-from-the-oven afternoon cookies in the lobby. Views of sundown on the ocean are spectacular. The owners truly care about their guests. For us, it's just perfect and we can't wait to go back.
My last stay at the Bass Rock

Made reservations for 3 rooms 3 nights. in Sept. '06, decided after 2 days stay that the weather was not good, informed the desk that we wouldn't be staying the extra night. Desk manager advised we would have to pay the extra night. I advised we had brought them 14 room nights, most of them in the almost off season) and would they allow us a credit for 2007 season for the money that we would be penalized, Management declined, That was our last stay at the Bass Rock . I believe that we have lost a nice hotel, and the Bass Rock has lost at least 10 nights stay per season..
