The Comfort Hotel Post Chur (http://www.comforthotelpost.ch/) is located in the heart of old-town Chur, on the pedestrian-only Postrasse 11. It is within easy walking distance of the train station/PostBus, just 10 to 15 minutes via the Bahnhoffstrasse, as well as a variety of restaurants, shopping, bars, local attractions, and the city bus lines. While the hotel has been around for a number of years, it has recently undergone extensive renovations. The rooms are simply but neatly furnished in Scandinavian-style furnishings. My room included two double beds pushed together to form a queen-size bed, a desk, TV, small table, bedside table, and a couple chairs. The bed linens were nice and soft.
Although I was only on the second floor (what Americans would call the third), I had good views up and down the historic Poststrasse, as well as nice views of the mountains. Also, there was construction going on across the street, but I really didn't hear the noise when my windows were shut.
Breakfast was included in the room price and was served in the hotel restaurant on the second floor. It included yogurt, fruits, cheese, breads, eggs, cold cuts, and other items.
The staff was friendly, and all the ones I spoke with over a 2-night stay spoke English. The front door is locked from 11pm to 6am, and there is no front desk staff during that time, but guests have key access.
Guests can access a computer on the first floor for a very small fee during front-desk hours. I think that 40 minutes online cost around CHF3 ($2.30).
The Post Hotel is also reasonably priced for the location, with room prices via their website ranging from CHF80-120 ($62 to $93--various things cost extra, so be sure to read over your reservation carefully).
My only complaint about the hotel was that the bathroom was a bit small. I had one of the shower-only bathrooms. It looks like the rooms with bathtubs have more room, but on the website they also look like they cost more.
They are also a dog-friendly hotel and take most major credit cards. Nonsmoking rooms are also available.
Overall, I think the Post Hotel gives a good value, especially for a single traveler. Its location makes it a convenient base for sightseeing, as well as being handy to various amenities that a visitor could want.
