I, along with my wife and two teenage sons, stayed in a luxury three-bedroom condo at the Windsor Hills Resort for 3 weeks this summer. The place was immaculate and the location superb. The boys were happy on a couple of nights to sit down and watch DVD's or play on the PlayStation 2, whilst we watched the nightly Disney firework display from the balcony with a refreshing beverage. We even splashed out on a bottle of bubbly one night. Not being used to a king-size bed, it was quite difficult finding my wife at night, and I think the whole family could have slept in that one bed. The condo had all the comforts of home, with modern appliances, and gave you the privacy you do not get in a hotel.
The resort is a gated community and is situated just off the 192, less than 2 miles from Disney and I4. It took us 20 minutes to travel from the Orlando airport to the condo. Having stayed out on the US27 previously and been stuck in rush-hour traffic, Windsor Hills was close enough to return to for a mid-afternoon rest from the parks. The condo was in the block next to the Clubhouse, which had a gymnasium, cinema, table tennis, and pool tables. Unfortunately, the shop was not open, but I'm sure on our next visit it will be - and there will be a next visit!! The pool, which was more than 70m/200 feet long, with, in the words of my sons, "a wicked slide," was bliss, especially when relaxing on your rest days.
Having had to share hotel rooms with our children on previous visits, the extra privacy the condo gave us made for a far less stressful holiday. We didn't argue until the last week, which is a minor miracle probably caused by the thought of having to leave such a beautiful place. I would recommend this resort to families and couples who want to be close enough to the Magic but also want some peace and quiet to reflect on their vacation.
