The Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort, Spa and Casino (about 500 rooms) is located in the town of Henderson, about 18 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. The property has a nice view of the surrounding mountains and sits lakefront, with the Reflection Bay Golf course running along one side of it. The Falls Golf course is about 3 minutes from the hotel. This Moroccan-style resort extends the theme from the exterior to the public inside areas, as well as into the rooms.
There are two large swimming pool areas. Each pool area is landscaped to create the look of an oasis, with plenty of shady and sunny areas to lounge in, as well as cabanas to rent. The lower-deck pool attracts families with children because of the waterslide and four spouts of water that cascade into the pool. It also has a separate gated wading pool for small children and a gated playground. This lower-deck pool area leads to a small man-made beach with a tiny section of the lake roped off for wading. The upper-deck pool is more adult-oriented with deeper pool depths and a separate Jacuzzi. In addition to the token casino/bar, full-service spa, and poolside bar/snack bar, there’s an indoor lounge/bar with light music nightly, two restaurants, and 24-hour coffee bar/marketplace. A nice-sized outdoor, elevated terrace has tables, chairs, sofas, fireplace, and water treatments with a good view of the lake.
We had a standard room (390 square feet) with a king-size bed and sliding glass door that opened to a Juliet-style balcony overlooking the pools. The room was bright and airy, inviting and attractive, with a coffeemaker, small refrigerator, robes, hair dryer, safe, iron/ironing board, large-sized sundries, bowl of potpourri that kept the room fresh, and Pay Per View movies.
This is a low-key alternative to staying in Las Vegas. We spent 3 nights here midweek right after Labor Day, when the low summer room rates were still in effect and the place was about 20% occupied. They give seniors (62 and over) room rates that are better than the AAA rate.
