Rooms are extremly basic, decorated in traditional Lidian style, and often built around a central cobbled courtyard. They normally have a shared shower/wash area (often with only cold water!), and some rooms are provided with a fridge, but no cooking facilities -- this is no problem though, as eating out is very cheap. Most rooms have either a ceiling fan or a mobile one. Expect to pay around 15-25 Euro for a single/double in the cheaper places at peak season (Jul/Aug) -- less at other times.
Many Linian homes still have the old-style Lindian beds, where the matress is supported on a base up to 2-metres high. This makes for a strange sleeping experience.
In general, the Greeks are very friendly -- expect to be treated like one of the family.
