Description: We stayed in the Oriental Suite. It was a two-room suite that had an antique bed they got from China (I think). It was a very comfortable bed. There was a hot tub and a fireplace. We used both, even though it was warmer when we were there. We had decided to get a romantic basket or package. I can't remember which one. It included champagne, a CD, a gift certificate to a local restaurant (you get to pick from a list they have there, and it has a fairly big selection with a variety of types), a camera, a postcard, a CD with romantic songs, a "pillow book" filled with romantic things to read to each other (a bit too much for my husband; he's not really that type of guy), and homemade cookies. You also get handmade soaps as part of the amenities.
The breakfast was wonderful, with waffles every day and a choice of something else (you get to pick what you want). It was very delicious. There was a sitting room right inside the front door of the building and lots of reading material that you could take back to your room if you want. The owners were extremely nice and helpful.
We will definitely go back. We will probably just stay in one of the standard rooms next time. I recommend this bed-and-breakfast to anyone who is staying in Independence or even Kansas City.
