A Room with a View
South Seas Rejuvenation. Have you lost your Mojo? Well head to South Seas Resort, Captiva Island, Florida and remember where you put it, Baby! The sunsets will do more than your therapist can ever hope to. There is something for everyone to do, or not to do here. I can’t recall a more perfectly pleasant resort.
One sunset walk, hand-in-hand with your "Pierce Brosnan" will have you feeling like the "Bond Girl" you are. There are so many beaches, you may not see anyone else, but I doubt you’ll mind. The shelling is great, if you can tear your eyes off the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico. You will never forget the beauty of these beaches.
Breakfast in bed is the perfect start to a culinary "Dream Whip" day. Room service is available from 7am-10pm. Fruit, yogurt and a muffin $6.95 or for the hearty, Eggs Benedict $8.95. Coffee and a small refrigerator are provided in each room. Lunch is easy with a deli that offers sandwiches, etc from $3.95 and up. Nothing says a "Amore" better than a Mama Rosa’s pizza for about $15.95 with plenty of toppings. Dinner is something special at South Seas. Chadwick’s is a casual theme buffet restaurant. The Porter House is an American steakhouse. A full meal is $45 or so. Don’t miss the Chocolate Volcano Cake. End your "dream" with the ultimate room service Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries from about $50. There is also a general store with wine and liquor.
The facilities and staff are excellent quality. Visit their web site www.southseasplantation.com. We arrived by boat. The marina is large and accommodates some pretty impressive yachts ($2.50/ft dockage) and nice facilities for those staying aboard. The dock master handled our boat and room check-in, complete with bellman. The room was spacious with a balcony, well appointed with a comfy bed and an oval tub/shower with glass block wall adding an unexpected, luxurious touch. Other room amenities include: hairdryer, iron and board, 2 sinks, safe, and a large closet. South Seas has hotel, condo, and private homes available for rent. There are 18 pools throughout the resort. There are bicycles, jet skis, kayaks, etc for rent. There are water-skiing, sailing and parasailing rides/lessons available. Boat tours are available for; sunsets, shelling, museum and dolphin watching. The beaches are a 1-5 min walk from all accommodations. Shops are gathered in quaint Chadwick's Square. They have quality merchandise from clothing to tropical stain glass. The staff is as happy as the deliriously refreshed guests who have completely forgotten where they came from. The Fun Factory Camp keeps your child occupied 4 hrs/day ($22). The trolley route is about 15 min round trip. It provides convenient transportation around the resort, the driver even sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Thankfully he only rang the bell 3 times. Quasimodo wouldn’t have the strength to toll my years.
South Seas will remind you of the pleasures of life; nature’s beauty, slow dancing on the beach, and great chocolate.
