My friends and I rented a 6 person suite that had two balconies, bathroom, extra sink, and a good view of the Mediterranean for 175 LE ($35) for one night. The rest of the rooms vary in price depending on whether or not you have a bath, and a view of the Mediterranean or a side street. A double with bath will cost around 50 LE ($10). All prices also include a small but nice continental breakfast at their rooftop restaurant featuring cheese, bread, some meat, and eggs.
Downstairs there is a small cafe and bar, as well as a billiard table. Most of the rooms also have a TV and on every floor there are nice sitting rooms where you can hang out.
You really only need one night in Alexandria, two at most, and there are plenty of hotels to choose from. I suggest the Hotel Marhaba because it is clean, very affordable and the staff are all very friendly. Hopefully you won't be spending too much time in your room anyway. My only complaint is that they might want to invest in some new pillows. Sleeping on a rock may have been better.
