I stayed at the Globetrotter Inn in Edinburgh. I also stayed at the Globetrotter Inn in London. It’s a fairly new chain of hostels, and I’d definitely go back to either of them. Both hostels are clean and safe, which is most important, but they also offer some other features which move them up a notch from some of the other places I’ve stayed. The bunk beds are sold wood that don’t shake, and each bed has a wrap around curtain. I suppose there’s a possible downside to that, but I liked having the curtain wrap around the bed so I could block out light as people come and go from the room. They also have individual lockers in the rooms, which is a great convenience. The Globetrotter outside Edinburgh is also in a bloody great location. It’s outside of the city, on the water, and has some great views of the Scottish landscape.
