Run by enthusiastic, friendly, and helpful folks, the Brussels Welcome Hotel is a tiny oasis in a good location just off the big square in central Brussels. Each room is decorated like a different locale - I had the Cuba room and got a peek at the Africa room. There is kooky decor, but the rooms aren't small by Europe standards, are very clean, and have all the amenities often missing in small places on the continent.
My room was 85€ and came with a huge breakfast buffet that was kept hot and clean. The lobby has a library of tourist books, and the staff was very helpful, especially Vanessa, who spent 15 minutes showing me how to get to my appointment on the bus system. They also were very efficient in receiving an important package that arrived before I did.
I wish that every city I travel to had a swell, affordable place like this.
