Best Things Nearby:
Beach, pool, Pelican Tours center, and the Texas de Brazil Steakhouse across the street
Best Things About the Resort:
The beach is on site and really nice, with white sands and beautiful turquoise waters!
Resort Experience:
I liked the Playa Linda. The property/grounds were beautiful, and there were plenty of amenities. The mini-mart on site is useful because check-in is on Sunday, which makes it difficult to get groceries. They have a very nice pool with a waterfall, several hot tubs, a spa, a restaurant, and a bar, all on site. They also have an on-site activities planning center, which is convenient if you want to tour the island (we did the Pelican bus tour) or do water sports (we took a pass on that -- save energy for the beach).
The on-site restaurant (the Azzurro) is okay. I had the gnocchi, but I think I should have had the shrimp. The person beside me had them, and they we HUGE! The real treat was the Texas de Brazil across the street. Some words of advice: skip lunch if you are going there for dinner. You'll need the space! (And make sure you have room on your credit card, as well as in your stomach!)
The unit (a one-bedroom) was suitable to our needs. I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the bathroom (ceiling, door, and shower interior), but everything was fully functional. The unit was fine for the two of us, but for four people it would have been way too small. The a/c was really cold, which was great after a long day in the sun! Our unit did have an ocean view (I believe all the one-bedrooms do) and a balcony, although the view was really more of a partial ocean view, as we were near the back of the resort. It was still nice to have!
