Best Things Nearby:
Disney World is the closest theme park, but you are also close to Downtwn Disney, and the Pleasure Island area.

Best Things About the Resort:
Silver Lake is great for families as they offer alot of activities to keep kids busy like tennis, basketball, a games' room, and movie theater.

They also have an internet room for you to check email and a golf simulator if you want to practice your swing.

The security was good, but the buildings aren't enclosed, which means outsiders have easy access.

Resort Experience:
The second week of our vacation ended with just the three of us, so I asked to downsize the unit and was told NO! I found this quite strange. We were put into building 600, which is close to the pool area, but we found the unit to be very big for us--plus there were no carpets anywhere, so everytime you talked or watched TV there was an echo. We were on the third floor with no elevators, which was hard when carrying loads of luggage.

The unit was well decorated with turquoise walls and white rattan furniture. It was OK, but there are mirrors everywhere--I am not sure why, because the place does not need to look any bigger.

We had a huge, square jacuzzi in the master bedroom and, again, a shower big enough for the family. Everything worked, so maintenance was never required. The one thing I didn't like is the lack of mid-week housekeeping services. This is the first resort we have ever stayed at that did not have this and we were constantly washing towels, etc.

The security people at the gate are extremely friendly. We had a few nice chats with them.

Again, the book said 50-cents for local calls, but I was not charged. I found check-out to be rather impersonal--no "thanks" or anything just. "here's your bill, goodbye."

All in all, though, we had a good week at Silver Lake Resort and would probably exchange there again if it became available.

Are you kidding!!! Disney World is right next door.

Best Things About the Resort:
While the first time you go to Disney it is important to live the full experience which includes driving through the main entrance, you can from that point take the back way into Disney. In a matter of a couple minutes and virtually no traffic you can be in front of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Is it really that close you ask? From many of Silver Lake's units you can go out to your balcony or look out your window and see the Tree of Life and on the upper decks can watch fireworks above the Epcot Center after dusk.

Resort Experience:
While the resort isn't what I would call "plush" it is clean, attractive, and comfortable. The layout of the resort is very user friendly and the hub of leisure is the large pool area. The cabana has good fast food type food and snacks and also a wide variety of adult beverages. We liked having kitchens in our unit where we could buy our own snacks, fruits, breakfast foods and drinks at a local grocery store. The resort plans activities but with so much to do in the Orlando area it is not as well attended as I feel other resorts may be.

Walt Disney Worlds Animal Kingdom is within one mile of the resort.

Best Things About the Resort:
RCI Points are available with the purchase of a week at this resort. They are worth their weight in gold.

Resort Experience:
The Resort is small, but expanding. They opened a new building the week we were there and we got to stay in them. The lock off units are nice. They have an outside door, then a small entry and finally two separate doors to each portion of the unit. One of the unit sides to the lock-off was a two bedroom/two bath unit with full kitchen and washer/dryer. That is the type of unit in which we stayed. The other unit had one bedroom/two bath. Both units have pull-out sofas that will accommodate more people. We chose the three bedroom lock-out unit to purchase. Not because we actually needed the space, but because it was cheaper than a two bedroom unit at the time.

The trading power was a major pull for us. Everyone wants to go to Walt Disney World. That makes it easier to trade weeks through RCI. The RCI points available at this resort also help tremendously when trading.

The grounds of Silver Lake are very well planned. With the small area already developed, the accommodations are within walking distance of the pool and registration area. The pool was spacious with plenty of room not only for the swimmers, but for those people who wish to just relax and enjoy the sun.

The registration process was easy and painless. We walked into the registration area, told them our names, and showed our identification. We were given our key and our introductory packet. My husband asked about attractions in the area and how to get tickets and we were directed to that area. It was simple and easy. And with a five year old and a seven year old, simple and easy is wonderful!

I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who likes peaceful surroundings with activities available upon request. Their no pressure sales technique was easy to understand. We went to the Orlando area looking for a timeshare. We looked at three resorts, but felt that Silver Lake met our needs better than the bigger, more flashy resorts we toured. The RCI points available at this resort also helped sway both my husband and myself toward Silver Lake. If you are looking for a timeshare in this area, check out Silver Lake. You won't be disappointed.

Our accommodations were more than we expected. My husband was drooling over the plasma television in the newly opened room we were given; the screen was so big, it seemed to take up 1/4 of the wall in the living area. Our boys liked the new unit because they got a room and bathroom to themselves; they thought the jacuzzi was cool, too. From the window, we could see the top of the Tree of Life in the Animal Kingdom. The pool area was very nice; we took the boys for an evening swim and really enjoyed it.

Best Things Nearby:
Easy access to the Disney properties.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location: just off of 192, not a property that you need your car on. The main pool is beautiful with a small island in the middle planted with palm trees and other greenery.

Resort Experience:
All of the units are well kept and are within easy walking distance to the pool area. There is a separate children's pool with a palm tree in the middle and once the coconuts fill with water, they tip on the children. This is not one of the larger properties where you lose yourself. From some of the units at night, you can watch the fireworks at Sea World and the Disney properties. There is a snack bar by the pool that has cold & hot food items and also a vareity of drinks. There is also a happy hour every day. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
