I went through timeshareresort.com to book a vacation. Five days later, I received notice my job will be ending in 25 days. I called the customer service desk who told me there are no refunds regardless of a layoff or a death. This is money just thrown away. Just know I will book with Westgate Resorts because they are sympathetic to each case without any questions. The fine print states if you don't qualify, you will be charged. So, If you lose your job or your spouse dies before the vacation and you don't meet the standard qualification, you are screwed.

Best Things Nearby:
Disney theme parks, Universal, and SeaWorld

Best Things About the Resort:
Easy check-in; large, clean rooms; beautiful pool and hot tub; and friendly staff everywhere

Resort Experience:
This was my first rental with RCI. I really didn't know what to expect, but I was extremely satisfied. The resort was clean and well kept. We arrived a little early, and the front-desk staff was great. They did everything possible to accommodate us and let us get out to the parks. The rooms were big, beds were comfortable, and the activities were great.

Best Things Nearby:
We were close to the strip of all the food places, grocery stores, and drugstores. Everything you needed was right there.

Best Things About the Resort:
The staff was friendly, and we were not pressured into buying a timeshare.

Resort Experience:
It was nice; we were rarely in our room. The only problem I had was that the kitchen was partial, but you had to wash dishes in the bathroom sink where you brush your teeth and wash your hands. The maid doesn't come until you leave. We were in a very good location, not too far from Disney. Oh, and the laundry rooms were on the other side in another building. But overall it was really nice, and my husband and I enjoyed ourselves.

Putt-putt golf, Disney World, Downtown Disney, and Universal Studios

Best Things About the Resort:

The accommodations, staff, activities, pool, cabana, and happy hours (2-for-1 drinks from 7pm to 9pm, I think).

Resort Experience:
The rooms are beautiful. They are like nice two-bedroom apartments with housekeeping. There is a great kitchen, family room, and Jacuzzis (well, the old units have these). The new units have a Jacuzzi bathtub. There are flat-screen TV's.

Best Things Nearby:
Disney World was adjacent to Silver Lake Resort. There was an easy way to get to the Animal Kingdom by taking a secondary road that connected Highway 192 to the Disney World complex. It got you into Animal Kingdom in a matter of moments, rather than going through the main entrance and the many secondary roads.

Best Things About the Resort:
I was pleased to hear that Silver Lake Resort had a system set up that gave computer users wireless Internet access. They even had a computer room set up for people like me who didn't think of bringing a laptop. I will inquire in the future weather a resort has that facility.

Resort Experience:
The resort is like any other, with a comfortable bed to sleep in and a closet to hang clothes in. The pool is humongous and backs up to a bar, which does serve food. They didn't let us charge food to our room number, so I was forced to go pick up the food in person. The personnel are very friendly always presenting you with the cordiality of the day. The gift shop was quite crowded with merchandise and it didn't have any retail appeal. One just didn't get a warm fuzzy to go in the gift shop and buy anything. My wife and I opted not to use any of the resort activities, so I have marked that box as N/A.
