The Malibu Beach Resort is an adequate property right in the heart of Chaweng Beach. It is a small resort, with perhaps 25 bungalows total on a thin strip of land that runs from just behind the main drag in Chaweng all the way to the beach.
The wooden-floor bungalows are quaint, clean, and a bit on the older side but certainly serviceable. Housekeeping service is dependable each day, and breakfast, though lacking variety and selection, is complimentary each morning.
Pricewise, the low-end rooms run from 1,775 baht up to around 2,300 baht in high season, including VAT and breakfast. The pool is clean and refreshing, especially as a morning or post-beach shower substitute.
The best attribute of the Malibu Beach Resort is definitely its location. It is right in the middle of Chaweng, nearly equidistant from the end of the main drag, both north and south, and a quick walk from the Green Mango area and the concentrated areas of street-front shops and vendors.
The staff was generally very friendly, if not sometimes difficult to locate, but, overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Malibu Beach Resort, and for people who were using it mainly as a home base and staging area for attacking the island and not a destination on its own, it was perfect.
