Sequoia Lodge

Rooms were decorated with bright fabrics and modern wood furniture, and the dark-wood furniture fitted exactly into the theme of the hotel.

It was December when we stayed in Sequoia Lodge, and it was cold. It was so cold that it was always great to be back at the hotel, where we warmed up at the huge fireplace. I find this hotel great for the winter because of the dark colours and the whole atmosphere of the hotel. For the summer I think Newport Bay is nicer, because of the bright and light colours.

There were buses to the park, but we decided to walk. It isn’t far to the bus station, about a 7- to 10-minute walk.

The Sequoia Lodge Hotel is a large hotel that has rooms in a main lodge (attached to the hotel reception) and rooms located in outside lodges.

The hotel is based on America's natural parks and is the most natural and outdoorsy type of hotel you will find at Disney! In the Disneyland Paris hotel pecking order, it is classed as a mid-range hotel alongside the Newport Bay Club

The rooms are quite large for European hotel rooms, although not huge. The style of the rooms is reminiscent of a mountain retreat, and most of the furniture is dark brown, with bedspreads that are decorated in autumnal colours.

You get all the usual facilities in the rooms, including a television with international channels, a radio, and air-conditioning. The rooms also offer a writing desk and a comfy chair. Ice machines are also available on every floor of the hotel.

Check-in was very fast and efficient, especially considering that about 60 people arrived to check in at once. We were shown to a queuing area where we were handed registration details to complete whilst queuing so that when we arrived at the desk, check-in only took a few minutes.

The hotel pool is fantastic and both an indoor and outdoor pool (dependent upon the time of year!) with a waterslide that kids absolutely adore. The waterfall is very relaxing if you are just lolling pool side. You can also enjoy the Jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath, and fitness room and pay locally for the solarium and a tempting massage!

As with most of the Disney hotel packages, breakfast in one of the two restaurants is included. As this is a large hotel, you have to reserve your breakfast time the day before. When arriving for breakfast, you will be allocated a table and bread will be delivered to you. All other items are self-service and include a range of meats, cheeses, cereals, fruits, yoghurts, and drinks. I found the quality, range, and quantity of breakfast items to be very good, and the turnover of customers in the restaurant was very high, but the staff coped very well and was polite and courteous at all times.

We ate at the Beaver Creek tavern, which offered a good range of varied dishes, including meat and fish. The food tends to be heavier than at some of the other Disneyland Paris restaurants, keeping with the hotel’s theme.

If you fancy a relaxing drink, then the Redwood bar and lounge is ideal! Located as part of the hotel lobby and centred around a majestic burning log fire, the Redwood offers the usual type of drinks but in a great setting. Large, comfy armchairs; a crackling fire; and even tables that you can play chess on make for a very relaxing couple of hours, as through you are in some tranquil American lodge hideaway, not just Disneyland Paris!!
