Disney's Hotel New York

Disney's Hotel New York: Our favourite hotel!

The outside of the hotel looks like it is from a movie set, with the hotel being eight floors high and made to look like the skyscrapers you find in New York. The hotel has a nice marble-type floored foyer. On one side you have the Cocktail Bar, and on the other side is the reception. Checking in was easy. Mostly we get an upgrade to a room with a view on the lake.

Breakfast is included in the price and usually takes place in the Parkside Diner or the Manhattan. Parkside Diner can be crowded, which is why we try to sit in the Manhattan. There is more space.

We love the Cocktail Bar, during the day for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and in the evening for (of course) a cocktail. They have a wide range of cocktails (one cocktail costs 10€). They also provided crisps and nuts and brought your drinks to the table. There is live music (jazz) on the weekends.

We mostly come to Disneyland Paris in December, because everything is decorated in the spirit of Christmas. We visited all resorts, and I must say that this one is our favourite!

Hotel New York

I have stayed at quite a few of the Disney hotels, and the Hotel New York is definitely my favourite. It is the second most expensive of the hotels to stay in (after the Disneyland Hotel) but has many advantages! This is also the smallest hotel on Disney property and has the advantage of having smaller and more intimate restaurants and virtually no queues for breakfast!

Rooms:
The rooms are bright and airy, and decorated with Big Apple touches everywhere (see if you can find them!) If you can, ask for a room on a high floor with a water view, as the view over Lake Disney at sunset/sunrise is amazing! All rooms feature air-conditioning, satellite TV, in-room safe, hair dryer, and two double or one king-size bed, as well as a writing desk and armchair. Overall, the rooms are well proportioned and thought out.

Location:
The hotel is the second closest one to the theme parks, approximately a 5-minute walk (after the Disneyland Hotel) away, and the closest to Festival Village. Although all the hotels are located close to the parks (approximately a 10- to 15-minute walk), being very close has its advantages after a long day walking round the theme park!

Activities:
In winter, you can have a go at ice skating (minimal cost), and if not, it's nice to sip hot chocolate and watch others! In summer, the outside of the hotel is lovely for sitting, relaxing, and watching the world go by. The pool is also very good, and the number of lifeguards is high, helping to make you feel safe swimming.

Eating and Drinking:
The hotel bar has a sophisticated feel and is very quiet and relaxing for an evening drink. They make a wide range of cocktails that are not especially cheap, but it’s tempting to try one or two. If you do not see anything on the menu, ask the bar staff for recommendations, as they are very helpful!

There are two restaurants. The park-side diner is very relaxed and informal and serves good food, such as pasta, chicken, and burger and fries, which is excellent! This restaurant is very child-friendly and offers a good children's menu. Meals are reasonably priced, and there is very quick service! The main hotel restaurant has a much more grown-up feel and serves longer, more relaxed meals in an intimate surrounding with secluded tables.

Continental breakfast is included in all hotel packages, and the advantage of the Hotel New York over other larger hotels is that you do not have to pre-book your breakfast time. It is a self-selection buffet with a wide range if drinks (hot and cold), cereals, cheese and meat, and bread. You can also order hot food off an additional menu (charge payable), but the basic buffet is more than adequate and has a good selection of items for people on restricted diets.

The cheapest way to book is via the Disneyland Paris website, as packages are usually inclusive of breakfast. Travel can also be arranged
