We had a lakeside room with a walk out patio to the lake. The rooms didn’t have the typical full size beds but offered larger queen beds instead. Each room provides a coffee maker, hairdryer, and refrigerator. The rooms were very well kept and clean, and the front desk staff was enjoyable and extremely helpful as this was our first visit to the area. They provided an area map and gave suggestions on good places to eat in town and in Pentwater.
Directly beside the resort is The Wave Club Watersports for rentals, a 5-minute walk down the main street is Silver Lake Buggy Rentals, there are restaurants across the street, go-kart racing, and ice cream shops. We were there for the 4th of July holiday, so the town was hopping with people. Everyone was out for a stroll, making it feel like an old fashioned town from the 50s.
Silver Lake sits off the main roads and there are many twists and turns to get there. Directions from U.S. 31 to get to the resort: take the Mears-Hart exit, turn west on Polk Road. Turn south (left) on 56th Avenue and go a half mile to Mears. In Mears, turn west (right) on Fox Road and drive about 3 miles to 34th Avenue. At the stop sign, turn left and follow the blacktop about two miles to Silver Lake. The resort is on the left at the lake. As a guide, Silver Lake is 220 miles from both Chicago and Detroit.
While the Dunes Waterfront is a smaller resort, we would gladly stay here again. We were treated so nice and had so much fun with all the activities, we plan to return again in the future, even if just for another long weekend.
