Exceptional, five-star Vegas-like casino resort, with all the lavishness associated with the Conrad International name. Facing white-sand Playa Mansa with Isla Gorriti out in the distance, this normally bustling locale was incredibly pristine -- not surprising, as I was fortunate to catch this deal off-peak and mid-week.
As expected, the rooms were top-notch and the staff was super friendly. There was no use for the outdoor pool, as it was the middle of winter. However, the gym was exceptional, as were the spa treatments.
And the casino – interestingly, bets are placed in US$, although other casinos in Uruguay use their own currency. Less than half of the tables were opened for play and it didn't seem to be a very profitable operation. However, a dealer did admit she preferred it this way, as opposed to the mad crowds of summer.
