This hotel was just plain awful.

The air-conditioner: The room was hot when we went in, so we tried to turn on the air conditioner. The knobs were broken and loose. The whole panel was loose too, and practically came off, but we managed to get it turned on. The air conditioner apparently had not been used in a long time, and was so dirty it spit out a cloud of dust and dirt with the first blast of air.

The bathroom: There was a bird's nest in the shower vent with pieces of the nest sticking out into the shower, you could hear the birds tweeting too. The toilet was hard to flush. The paint on the wall was peeling. The wall was partially painted with different colors. The wicker toiletry basket was broken. The bathroom was right next to the 80/90 highway too, so the noise level was very high, especially when trucks flew by. It felt like you could get hit by a truck when you went into the bathroom. The bathroom door was warped and would not shut. The shower wall had multiple mismatched color tile panels, some were even broken, and the tile work was very sloppy.

The carpet: There were several stains on the carpet. Part of the carpet was ripped with a bad repair job using an entirely different carpet.

The room: The TV remote was broken. Some of the furniture was broken. There were cigarette burns and/or stains on the nightstand and on the dresser. The window was dirty, with dead bugs and cob webs in the track for the window. There were foot prints on the walls. There were tiny dead bugs in the sheets. Two lights did not work.

The Next Morning: Another guest we spoke to was also disappointed. He had booked his room through the Internet and said that the room he got was nothing like the pictures he saw on the website. He was especially disappointed with the breakfast barin person compared to the pictures.

The Conclusion: The whole hotel was in general disrepair and totally not up to the quality one would expect from a Howard Johnson's establishment. After complaining to the management, we received a partial refund, but only after informing him we intended to send a letter to the main hotel chain with a description of the conditions at this location. I seriously recommend you find somewhere else to stay, someplace better, like maybe a sleeping bag under a bridge!
