A two-hour drive North along California’s scenic highway 29 allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of San Francisco and find true serenity in California’s lovely Lake County. You’ll feel that you have taken a step back in time as you pass through Napa Valley’s Wine Country and survey the unexcelled vistas from Mount Saint Helena.
Native Foothill Pines and Valley Oaks lined the road as we entered this storybook located Bed and Breakfast and Greta, the owner, was there to greet us and show us around. The cozy Main House presented unobstructed views of Mt St Helena and the surrounding peaks, an inviting hot tub and the lovely breakfast room.
Three comfortable modern cottages (all smoke-free, YES-!) are available. We began to feel really special when we entered our cottage and discovered some extra special touches: champagne and crystal flutes, fresh flowers, remote control gas fireplaces and a private deck overlooking the garden and pond. An extensive movie collection was available to enjoy on our private VCR.
The morning wake-up call from the local quail - signals the start of each day. We sipped French Roast coffee in our cottage before we walked over to the Main House where a hearty country breakfast of fresh orange juice, a scrumptious frittata with fresh home grown herbs, bacon and homemade scones awaited. A lovely fresh garden of organic fruits, herbs and vegetables provides the source of many dishes. I hope we can return when the fresh strawberries are ready!!
